First ever MyMachine Expo in Czechia!

A few months ago, these were children’s drawings. Today, they are all working prototypes! Last week, the pilot year of MyMachine Czechia culminated. We ceremoniously presented eight elaborated Dream Machines – inventions drawn a year ago by primary school children and brought to life with the help of university and technical secondary students. They gathered at VIDA! Science Centre in Brno to celebrate the results of this year’s work.

Seeing the pride and joy in the children’s and their older colleagues’ eyes was an extremely touching moment for us. We did it. Together, we turned “it can’t be done” into “hey, it really works”!

A cap that changes colour according to your mood. An AI vending machine that prepares a drink tailored to emotions. Robotic lunch carrier. These are just some of the ideas that have ceased to be a crazy sketch on paper.

Entire classes arrived to admire the fully functional prototypes. The enthusiasm was also evident among high school and university students, who found time in their busy schedules throughout the year to show young inventors that nothing is impossible.

Over 400 children, 80 high school students, and almost 40 university students from across Jihomoravský kraj participated in the first year. The prototypes were created in the schools’ workshops and at FabLab Brno, with guidance from experienced mentors.

So that’s what it looks like when children make their dreams come true with the help of older students:
